About Us
Founded in 1995 by Ministerial Order under the Alberta Housing Act, Meridian Housing Foundation emerged as a dedicated Housing Management Body and a registered charity, committed to providing affordable housing solutions for seniors in our community.
As the Housing Management Body responsible for serving the Tri-Region, we specialize in delivering local subsidized housing solutions tailored to the needs of seniors, enabling them to remain within the communities they have contributed to building. Subsidized senior living plays an essential role in ensuring that older adults have access to safe, affordable housing options as they age. These programs alleviate financial strain for seniors with limited incomes, allowing them to maintain a higher quality of life and age in place with dignity.
In 2023, MHF expanded it’s portfolio to deliver the provincially-funded Rent Supplement Program to eligible households struggling to afford rent within the Tri-Region. At MHF, this program includes the Rent Assistance Benefit (RAB) and the Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit (TRAB). While our primary focus continues to be on seniors, providing these rent subsidies enables us to support households of all ages in the Tri-Region, helping them afford rent and remain in their communities.
