Sheet Metal Worker

The Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repairs associated with sheet metal/HVAC. He or she will work using safe work practices, always being aware of personal and client safety. The Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker will be required to demonstrate written and verbal communication through the creation of work documents, and through providing explanations and training to others on the safe use of related equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ANF FUNCTIONS:

· Reads, interprets, and executes drawings, schematics, blueprints, and follow code specifications to see layout of the ducting system.

· Convert blueprints into shop drawings to be followed in the construction or assembly of sheet metal products

· Determined project requirements, such as scope, assembly sequences, or required methods or material, using blueprints, drawings, or written or verbal instruction

· Assist with design and the planning of heat and cooling systems.

· Complete accurate takeoffs and order material in a timely fashion to assure timelines are met.

· Work and cooperate with all departments to ensure all projects schedules and budgets are maintained.

· Direct apprentice sheet metal installers

· Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports

· Fasten seams or joints together with bolts of metal drive clips

· Install and maintain test fire dampers

· Install grilles and dampers according to drawings

· Select gauges or types of sheet metal or non-metallic material, according to product specifications

· Complies with standards and procedures of industry, Safety Manual, and abide by safety rules.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must be certified Journeyman Sheet Metal Installer

· Must be able to read diagrams, and blueprints

· Must possess communication skills, self-supervision, and respect for safety needs

· Must possess team spirit, and be able to work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering, and out of doors services

· Must be ready to do overtime work if the need arises

· Must have a versatile work schedule

· Must be able to climb ladders

· Possess a valid driver's license.

· Ability to work independently in a busy environment.

· Experience with routine maintenance operations.

· Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allows one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

· Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

· Able to work well under pressure.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.

WORK CONDITIONS:

· Physical ability to lift up to 50lb.

· Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

· Overtime as required.

· Hazards associated with the trade.

· Work both indoors and outdoors.
